A mother has recently given birth to her child in a Krispy Kreme parking lot. Although births are incredibly complicated, at least her blood sugar levels wouldn't have been a problem.
Per PEOPLE, a woman gave birth to her son in Alabama on January 22 in a parking lot of the doughnut chain. Naturally, the couple would have preferred a hospital, but the "once-in-a-century" storm caught them short.
A Krispy Kreme spokesperson shared the incredible story with the outlet.
The mother and her partner were driving to the hospital while she was in active labor. The winter storm ravaging the southeastern states made further travel impossible, however. It's not explained exactly what went down, but the storm halted their progress.
In labor, the woman had no choice in the matter, hospital or not. I assume the couple swung into the closest parking lot, which happened to be Krispy Kreme's, for the space to give birth. And give birth she did.
Despite the storm, the spokesperson assured that the baby boy, who's been named Dallas, was born perfectly healthy. Dallas, and his parents, are "all doing great." This is quite some marvel, considering the conditions.
I think all mothers deserve a sweet treat after going through such a physically traumatizing ordeal. However, in this case, it'll be her child who gets a sweet treat every year hence.
Krispy Kreme Pledges To Celebrate The Baby's Birthday For Years To Come
According to the spokesperson, the manager of the Alabama location suggested that Krispy Kreme give the family free doughnuts for a year until the baby's first birthday, which they'll also celebrate with a party.
Quite the sweet deal, but it gets sweeter.
The chain has instead opted to throw Dallas a birthday every year until he's "all grown up." Of course, this leaves a lot to the imagination, but it sounds pretty awesome. I imagine the birthday parties will last until Dallas is 18, and they'll be short celebrations full of free doughnuts for his friends and family.
The spokesperson also said that, as far as the company is aware, Dallas is the first-ever case where Krispy Kreme is printed on the birth certificate as the location of birth. Insane stuff.
