Chili's is taking a pop at the hierarch of heart disease by making their own version of the legendary McDonald's Quarter Pounder burger. They've even given it a similar name.
Every fast food joint has its specific menu items that are pretty much untouchable. Popeyes has its chicken sandwich, Burger King has the Whopper, and McDonald's has the Quarter Pounder and the Big Mac.
But, this hasn't stopped Chili's from trying to take them for itself. Previously, they have gone after the Big Mac, with some success. However, now, they're attempting to take down the McDonald's Quarter Pounder with their Chili's 'The Big QP'.
The burger is available as part of the '3 For Me' deal, which costs $10.99. This includes the Big QP burger, fries, unlimited chips, and free refills of a soft drink. Chili's is offering it at a lot lower price than a comparable McDonald's Quarter Pounder meal.
The ingredients are exactly the same, too. The Chili's Big QP has two slices of American cheese, pickles, ketchup, and diced onions along with a quarter pound of beef. It's a winning combo, but McDonald's definitely claimed it. I think there is space for Chili's to take that quarter-pound crown, though.
The Laurels McDonald's Rest On Are Being Rustled By Chili's
I don't know about you, but I've been to a McDonald's or two recently and found them lacking. Of course, there is always the empty feeling of regret, sickness, and lingering hunger after I eat their food, but there is something else letting me down, too. The meals just aren't what they used to be.
Big Macs are looking ugly as all hell, and not so big. I have also noticed that the Quarter Pounder isn't looking like a quarter of a pound anymore. I am sure, by legal specification, it always is, but it doesn't feel like it. They're looking sloppy, impoverished, and not all that hearty.
As someone who regularly makes a good quarter-pounder at home, I know how they should look. McDonald's is getting slack with its menu staples, and Chili's is here to make them buck their ideas up with the Quarter Pounder. If they're offering a cheaper, tastier, meatier alternative, I know where I'll be going for my burger.
