America's Top Named Whiskey May Be The Weirdest Of The Bunch In My Opinion

The best whiskeys in the world are always going to be scotch. You cannot beat the beautiful smokey, peaty taste of a single malt. In an attempt to take a top spot, America has pulled out a weird whiskey, and it has paid off, being named America's top tipple.

Whiskey Advocate, a rather important voice in the whiskey drinkers world, named their top 20 of the year. As always, the podium positions were all filled with scotch. Laphroaig Elements 2.0 Cask Strength, Bruichladdich 18-year old, and Lagavulin 12-year-old The Ink of Legends all sit on the three coveted positions.

However, the top whiskey from the US may be the most unusual blend America's got. In at number four is, Bardstown Bourbon Co. Collaborative Series Amrut, one of the most unusual blended whiskeys I've ever seen. It's branded as a bourbon, but it isn't that. However, the flavor profile matches it.

America's top whiskey, Amrut, is a blend of two exquisite rye's, and three bourbon whiskeys. The flavor is described to be "chocolate chip, root beer, leather, and black cherry bubble gum. Sugared almonds, red berries, baking spices, ground pepper, and cinnamon segue into fruit tea, Red Vines, and herbal notes, with a mouth-filling finish of milk chocolate, malt, and oak char." I don't know about you, but with a blurb like that, I have to get myself a bottle.

An Innovative Approach Results In America's Top Whiskey

Clearly, single malts aren't going to do it for the American market, so getting unusual with the blends is the next obvious choice. This exquisite bottle of American whiskey sounds like it's heaven in a bottle, and I can't wait to take a taste.

Bardstown Bourbon Co. Collaborative Series Amrut is comprised of an 8-year-old 95% rye and a 9-year-old 51% rye. These are then aged in Amrut Indian single malt casks for 18 months. However, the final touch to America's top whiskey comes from the three Kentucky straight bourbons aged 10-14 years that are then blended with the ryes.

The resulting dram will fill the mouth, and soothe the mind. There are few things in the world better than an exceptionally made whiskey.
