Reba McEntire's Banana Pudding Recipe Will Be A Staple At My Holiday Table

Every holiday, for me, is primarily about eating. After reading about Reba McEntire's Banana Pudding recipe, I have one more thing to gorge on this Christmas.

According to the interview with Southern Living, McEntire shared that her banana pudding recipe was originally from her grandmother, and she passed it to her daughter. "These days, my daughter-in-law, Marissa, makes banana pudding for all of us," she told the outlet. "Hers is every bit as good as Mama's, and it always takes me back to Christmas on the ranch whenever I have it." The banana pudding baton has been passed to a new generation.

The recipe is as rich as it gets, but that makes it all the better. The thick, sweet, and indulgent recipe will happily feed a table. You won't need to make too much of it either, it will cure any sweet tooth instantly. Only the bravest will be able to go back for seconds.

How To Make Reba McEntire's Banana Pudding

  • ½ (3.4-ounce) box instant French vanilla pudding mix
  • ½ (3.4-ounce) box instant banana pudding mix
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 (8-ounce) bar cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1½ cups heavy whipping cream, very cold
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 2 (7.25-ounce) bags buttery shortbread cookies or 1 (11-ounce) box vanilla wafer cookies
  • 6 large bananas, sliced ¼-inch thick
  1. Using both boxes of pudding mix, combine them with the milk and whisk. Leave them to a side to thicken
  2. Beat the cream cheese until it is smooth. Now, add the condensed milk and combine it with the cream cheese. Beat them both until they're smooth.
  3. Now whisk the whipping cream for the banana pudding until it is thick and can form peaks.
  4. Add half the whipping cream mix to the cream cheese mix and combine. Now, add them both to the pudding mix and combine until there are no streaks left.
  5. Add in the powdered sugar to the whipping cream mixture and combine until it can reach peaks again.
  6. On the bottom of a pan, arrange the cookies. Top these with the sliced bananas, followed by the cream cheese mixture. Now, top this with more cookies, followed by the sliced bananas. Finally, finish off the banana pudding with the sweetened whipped cream.
  7. Now, cover it with plastic wrap and pop it in the fridge for two hours.
