'Yellowstone' Creator Lets Viewers Know His Real Thoughts On Bud Light

Kicking something while it's down is always a cheap shot. But, that didn't stop Taylor Sheridan from taking a dig at Bud Light.

After the huge losses made by Bud Light due to the beer company's partnership with Dylan Mulvaney, Yellowstone creator Sheridan has dug his boot in. During the latest episode of Landman, he decided to insult them further.

Billy Bob Thornton's character, Tommy Norris, heads into a bar and speaks to the waitress there. "We're having a special on Bud Light," she announces. "I bet you are," he retorts, with his friend adding, "How's that going for you?" "Like a popcorn fart in church," she responds, whatever that means. The subtle, but obvious jab at the lite beer makes Sheridan's thoughts clear on the whole Bud Light situation.

Bad Days For Bud Light

Personally, I am very much against Bud Light as a beer. But, my aversion to it has no relation to the controversy surrounding Mulvaney's promotion. It's simply because it's a disgusting, watery, swill. I have no issues with it being slandered and losing its position as the US's #1 beer. Hopefully, it'll be replaced by something drinkable.

However, the falling stock prices, and possibly catastrophic fall from grace aren't due to Americans suddenly hating the taste. Instead, it came down to a botched ad campaign. After trans rights activist, Dylan Mulvaney, promoted the beer, the company suffered monumental drops in sales. However, since, Anheuser-Busch claims their sales have stabilized. They are still far from their previous $67 per share stock price though.

Videos emerged on the internet of people buying Bud Light, and then destroying it in protest. They were seen shooting it, burying it, and crushing it in protest of the ad campaign. "What transpired from that video was more bullying and transphobia than I could have ever imagined," Mulvaney said of the protests "I've been followed, and I have felt a loneliness that I wouldn't wish on anyone."

The boycott has led to a $1.4 billion drop in sales. In fact, it has taken it from the number one spot in the US. Meanwhile, Bud Light distanced itself from Mulvaney and the ad campaign to try to stop its hemoraging sales. A spokesperson said the company "never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people."

How quickly a drink can fall out of favor in a blink of an eye? Now, even Taylor Sheridan is jumping on the Bud Light hate, referring back to their fall from favor in the U.S. markets.
