YouGov's recent study asked America's people to name their favorite fast-food chain in 2025; the top answers were all tooth-rottingly sugary.
When it comes to highest gross profit in the US, there is one reigning fast food champ. McDonalds is the all-time winner for income with a staggering $53,135 million revenue last year. That is almost double Starbucks which sits in second place.
But, just because McDonald's is America's highest grossing fast food joint, it doesn't mean it's the favorite. The study done for 2025 Q1 by YouGov asks how many people have had a positive opinion of a brand. This breaks down into service quality, taste, service and many more rubrics. We eat McDonald's because it's everywhere, cheap, and addictive, not because we like it.
When it comes down to what America's favorite fast food chain of 2025 is, there is one clear winner. Baskin-Robbins is number one across the US, with a 74% popularity rate. I would have thought the favorite fast food chain would be a burger or chicken shop. But, no, instead, the ice cream and coffee chain is the sweetheart of the American public.
The Top Of America's Fast Food Charts Is Sickly Sweet
Looking at the YouGov charts for America's favorite fast food chain is surprising. The top four are all sweet treat outlets rather than pizza, burgers, chicken, or sandwiches. In fact, it isn't until fifth spot that we see fast food that isn't made entirely of sugar.
Domino's is the first to feature on the list as a savoury option. Before that, in order, after Baskin-Robbins is Dairy Queen, Dunkin, and Krispy Kreme. It appears that the sweet tooth runs deep in the US. Of course, this isn't a survey entirely focused on America's favorite type of fast food, it also takes into account service, cleanliness, and reliability.
I guess those sweet fast food spots just know how to get it right. It probably helps that you're always going to feel high and happy after sucking down a gallon of coffee and a ton of processed sugar, too. They have an unfair advantage there.
